Hello families, Here is what we got up to this week: We learned about the seventh and final Sacred Teaching, Truth, represented by the turtle. The turtle carries all the teachings on its shell, reminding us to be true to ourselves and try our best each day. To deepen our understanding, we created clay turtles and designed their shells to represent all the animals, symbolizing how turtle holds all of them together.

Hello families, It was a squirrelly week with indoor recess every day! Here is what we got up to: In literacy we continued our letter writing workshop to the Calgary Zoo. Students drafted and revised their writing, focusing on clear questions, detailed ideas, and proper letter format. We then began working on our final copies, which will be sent to the zoologists at the Calgary Zoo. We are hopeful that they will respond and help answer our thoughtful questions about wolves!

Hello families, This week we started some new projects! Here is what we got up to:  In art and science, students explored how animals survive during the winter in both natural environments and urban settings. They learned and used scientific vocabulary such as  adaptation ,  migration , and  hibernation . Students also explored ways people help keep animals safe, including building wildlife bridges and crossings, using garbage cans properly, and not feeding animals. Inspired by  Over and Under the Snow  by Kate Messner, students created their own artwork to represent animals and the hidden world that exists beneath the snow during winter.
