Hello families, This week we played around with oil pastels, which are very different from the types of art media we have been using this year. Check out these beautiful spring flowers students created! In math we continued learning about 3D shapes and polygons. We completed some WODBs as well as created our own 3D shapes and  regular/irregular polygons! Students are now applying their understanding of 3D shapes to create drafts of some "Wanted" shape posters. As they create their characters, students need to include the shape's attributes as well as some real life examples. We will continue these into next week. Hello families, We had a short but very busy week! Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for helping make the zoo field trip an amazing experience. For one of their first field trips in years, students did an extraordinary job at listening, showing respect, and of course, having fun! Here are some photos from the trip:

Gymnastics

We will begin gymnastics in our regularly scheduled gym classes on Monday, April 25th.  The gymnastics unit will last two weeks.  Safety routines, cooperation and sportsmanship are taught and reviewed in each class.     This physical activity opportunity will help students acquire individual skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities.   It is important for students to come to school prepared for being actively engaged. The following guidelines are very helpful…       HEAD TO TOE - READY TO GO!!!     Head ....................... long hair pulled back   Ears/Throat/Wrist ............... jewellery off   Shirt.................................. one layer shirt   Waist ................................................tucked in   Pants.........................sporty pants or shorts, no belts or zippers   Ankles..........................pants rolled up if ankles are covered   Toes...............running shoes, gymnastic slippers or bare feet (no footed tights)

Hello families, This week our focus was on preparing for our field trip next Wednesday. We put on our zoologist hats and practiced collecting information from watching live cameras at zoos. We recorded our findings through sketching, labeling, and jot notes. We will be using these techniques to gather information when we visit the Calgary zoo.
