Hello families,

It was a squirrelly week with indoor recess every day! Here is what we got up to:

In literacy we continued our letter writing workshop to the Calgary Zoo. Students drafted and revised their writing, focusing on clear questions, detailed ideas, and proper letter format. We then began working on our final copies, which will be sent to the zoologists at the Calgary Zoo. We are hopeful that they will respond and help answer our thoughtful questions about wolves!

During word work we explored short vs long a, and i. This included words with a "magic e" and some vowel teams.

We celebrated the Lunar New Year through art and stories. Students learned that this year is the Year of the Fire Horse and explored which zodiac animal they are. For our fire horse art, students used tissue paper, markers and a tin foil printing technique to create vibrant designs.
