Hello families, This week we finished up our Art Cards and they look amazing! Please read the end of the blog for information on ordering some cards. In math we have been continuing to work with base tens, exploring the idea of regrouping 10 ones to make 1 ten. Next week we will be moving on to a math project that will allow students to independently demonstrate their understanding of place value and representing numbers. During word work we continued to practice word sorts. We will be moving into the Words Their Way program over the next few weeks.  Within this program students work on word sorts that specifically target where they are at in the development of their phonological awareness. Some students may be working on short vowels, while others are working on blends, or CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words.  Some students began printing practice as an additional opening task while others worked on word scrambles. Hello families, This week we joined Mrs. Green's class to create leaf creatures. We were inspired by the book Leaf Man  by Lois Elhert. We accompanied our creatures with some descriptive writing.  Students utilized a graphic organizer with sentence frames, or blank lines and copied the writing prompts from the board.

Hello families, This week we finished up our pumpkin and gourd sketches using realistic colours with our water-colour pencil crayons. After adding colour, we used a wet paintbrush to blend the colours.

Hello families, It was another beautiful week outside, especially with the beautiful colours of Autumn in full force!  In Science we explored the changes we are seeing in leaves right now and what we see throughout the seasons. This included talking about chlorophyll and the how leaves help plants produce food for themselves. To illustrate our understanding of these changes, we created our own timelines of a leaf. We also discussed why we did not include Spring (no buds this time of year, and wouldn't pick them because we always show respect to our environment) .
