Hello families, Here we are at the end of the year 2021 already! Wow has the time flied! Our last week before seeing each other again in 2022 was a great one.  In writing we watched the cartoon music video of " You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch". We then put our songwriting hats on and wrote our own lyrics to follow the song. Practicing "backwards similes", students had a great time playing with words to communicate the opposite. An example is "You're as soft as a rock, and as kind as a grizzly bear". To accompany our Grinch lyrics, we created some Grinch tree art.

Hello families, Miss. Brown has created a video introducing herself and her new role within LBS.  I hope your child is excited and has been sharing with you the amazing things happening during their time with her! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3d-OlQuu0w Literacy intervention has been going well and I am really enjoying spending time with students 1:1 and in small groups. We have intervention/gym time with Miss. Brown on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings so please ensure your child is dressed for cold weather.  Take care, Miss. Greenhall

Hello families, This week we finally jumped into our drum making. It has been a long time leading up to this and I can see the great interdisciplinary connections students are making  throughout the project. From hearing and sound, mathematical patterning, our Indigenous artist study of Norval Morriseau, the class  read-out-loud novel Finders Keepers , writing about simile animals, and our ongoing Indigenous education, our learning has come full circle.

Hello families, This week  we finished up our Norval Morrisseau inspired art. They turned out amazing! We created success criteria as a class to ensure our art had: realistic details bright colours no white spaces designs inside the animal using straight and curved lines neat colouring precise cutting of the silhouette        We glued in all of our conference work into our sketchbooks to illustrate the writing workshop process and the multi-steps of the T-Shirt Problem. We took the T-Short Problem one step further and created pop-up graphs of our data.           Our clocks from last week received some color.     We reviewed mathematical vocabulary related to addition, the Montessori stamp game, and began to solve word problems (mild, medium, or spicy). When solving word problems It is important that we first read the problem, underline the important words and information, show our solving/strategies , and finish with a sentence that includes the units.      Being the first week of Dece
