Hello families, This week we had two very important events: the Terry Fox Run and Orange Shirt Day. Here is what we got up to: Indigenous Education We began exploring the Social Studies theme of connectedness through the introduction of the Medicine Wheel and smudging. Students learned about the meaning of smudging and how it can be practiced. This will be offered as an opportunity for reflection and intention-setting. Participation is always optional, and students are welcome to pass if they choose.

Hello families, It was a very busy week! We spent time going through the literacy and mathematics government assessments. Students did a wonderful job with the substitute teachers  as I worked with grade groups and students 1:1 to complete these. Here is what else we got up to this week: Walking Field trip with our buddies! We completed a gratitude nature scavenger hunt. 

Hello families, This week we continued learning about care for self, others, and place. This included how to have Peace Talks. Here is what else we got up to! Self Portraits       Sky, Grass, Dirt printing check-in to see where each student is at in their printing skills. We then moved into the UFLI literacy program. Starting with the letter A. Students wrote down words or sentences depending on their literacy level. In our mixed grade classrooms students are provided with differentiated levels of work to meet their learning needs. It is also their responsibility to choose their "just right" level to ensure the work is challenging but manageable.    Fact fluency with dice games! Subitizing, and greater/less than.    We also began learning about patterns in math .  As a class we created a classroom connection "quilt" to illustrate all the ways we are connected in our classroom.
