October 31st 2025
Hello families,
This week we eased back into classroom routines and reviewed expectations. We had a blast doing autumn and halloween themed activities.
Leaf People S.T.E.M. Challenge
Pumpkin Inquiry in Science and Halloween fun!
In literacy we learned about the letter i and what makes it a very important letter: it is a vowel and needs to be capitalized when it is by itself! We also reviewed the letter n.
Signs of Fall with Room 12.
Students finished up their math pattern art. We will be moving on to number patterns next week.
Halloween games in gym!
Reads of the Week
Grade 1/2 Spelling Program
Next week, students will be sent home with Alberta Education’s list of high-frequency words for Grades 1 and 2 (see below for reference). Similar to previous years, we will practice these sight words during our daily word work time.
Weekly spelling check-ins will take place on Fridays, and will be sent home so you can see your child’s progress. Beginning next Friday, I will also post the upcoming week’s word list on my classroom blog for additional practice at home.
Volunteer for Monday
I am looking for a volunteer to come in on Monday for about an hour to assemble spelling books. Please email me if you are interested!
Telus Spark Field Trip
Before emailing me to sign up to volunteer, please ensure that your annual school form has been signed and that a current CBE police clearance is on file with the office. We have several field trips planned throughout the year, so if you are interested in volunteering and we’ve reached capacity this time, you will be given priority for the next opportunity. Field trip forms will be sent home next week.
Have a great weekend,
Ms. Greenhall
