Hello families,
It was a very busy week! We spent time going through the literacy and mathematics government assessments. Students did a wonderful job with the substitute teachers as I worked with grade groups and students 1:1 to complete these. Here is what else we got up to this week:
Walking Field trip with our buddies! We completed a gratitude nature scavenger hunt.
Gratitude Jars
Mathematics: We have been exploring different pattern rules (core), extending patterns, and the different attributes that can be used to make a pattern.
In literacy we learned about the letter A, M, and S. Students practiced printing words, or sentences. For those who wanted a challenge are encouraged to use different sentence starters, punctuation, and descriptive language.
Physical Education: We have been learning about passing, catching, and throwing through cooperative games. We have also been practicing our running stamina and perseverance as the Terry Fox run approaches next week.
Also Parachute!
Responsible Work Choices of the Week
Reads of the Week
Nut Aware School
LBS is a nut-aware school, and allergy precautions are taken on a class-by-class basis. At this time, Room 8 does not have any students with nut allergies, so nut products are permitted. Please note, this could change if a new student joins our class or if I am notified of an allergy. Please ensure the office and myself are aware of any allergies ASAP.
Scholastic Book Orders
Office Forms
Paper packages from the office were sent home last Friday. Please fill out and return to school at your earliest convenience. If you are interested in volunteering this year, please ensure you have signed the annual volunteer form if you already have CBE police clearance, or begin your CBE police check with the office. Police checks can take some time to process, so starting early will help ensure you are able to join us on field trips!
Soap Donations
We are always looking for pump bottles of soap for our classroom. While the school wall-dispensed soap works just as well, I’ve noticed that pump bottles are easier for small hands to use and seem to encourage more frequent, thorough handwashing. They also help us keep track of our hygiene routines as a class, since we can see the bottle getting low.
Any donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping our class stay healthy!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Greenhall
