Hello families, This week in math we applied our knowledge of place value and expanded form to learn the Montessori stamp game material. This is a great material to use before moving into standard algorithm (stacking) and supports the understanding of number value using manipulatives. It is also an excellent material to learn regrouping with! 

Hello families, This week we took advantage of the nice weather on Wednesday to get outside for some snow building and painting!

Hello families, This week was a short and busy one! In art we took part in an author study of Wassily Kandinsky. He is an abstract painter who is famous for his "Kandinsky Circles". We created Kandinsky inspired hearts for Valentine's day.

  Hello families, This week in literacy we delved into loose parts storytelling. We explored the tradition of oral storytelling, dating far back in human history and a key component to this day in Indigenous cultures. 

Hello families, This week in science we visited the aquarium and observed the creatures inside. They continue to grow really fast! Students reflected on the changes they saw and  learned what the purpose of a yolk sac is. We then  observed, sketched, and added detail to our sketches using watercolor pencil crayon.
