Hello families, This week we completed winter ornaments as a keepsake for students to take home. We hope you love them as much as we do!  

Hello families, This week we spent some time preparing for the Winter Solstice Event. In the season of building community and gratitude, the grade 1/2 classes worked together to make dog and cat treats to sell as a fundraiser for the Calgary Humane Society.    

Hello families, This week in Social Studies and Science we learned about the first Scared Teaching: respect. Students finished up their buffalo labeling and created a sketchbook page to describe how they show respect for people, animals and nature. 

Hello families, Our week started with the field trip to the zoo which was amazing! Thank you to those who volunteered to make the day such a  success . 

Hello families,  This week we created final copies of our Norval Morrisseau inspired art.  Norval Morrisseau, also known as Copper Thunderbird, was an Indigenous Canadian artist from the Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek First Nation. He is widely regarded as the grandfather of contemporary Indigenous art in Canada. We learned about oral storytelling and as we practiced our art we listened to three different legends: Turtle Island, Thunderbird, and Salmon Boy.  Students chose one of these animals for their guided drawing. In this art we focused on including bright colors and bold lines using sharpie and alcohol markers.
