Hello families,

This week we completed winter ornaments as a keepsake for students to take home. We hope you love them as much as we do!

Some students joined in on outdoor snow painting at recess!

On Wednesday and Friday we carolled as a whole school.

We  took part in our sock exchange on Wednesday. Students were secretly assigned a peer to choose a pair of socks they think they would like, wrapped them, and wrote a thoughtful card. Thank you for making this happen and sending socks in! It was so heartwarming to see the excitement and gratitude each student showed while opening their present.

In literacy we did an "around the fire" writing prompt to encourage students to show their understanding of sentences. They had a blast taking pictures by the fireplace with some leftover props from the Winter Solstice event. We will continue learning about sentence structure and parts of speech in the new year.

In math students delved into addition, specifically number bonds, or sometimes referred to as part-part-whole. Grade 1s focused on sums within 20 and Grade 2s within 100.

Here are some of the books we read!

It has been an absolute pleasure teaching your children so far this school year. I wish you a wonderful winter break and look forward to seeing you in the new year!

With gratitude,

Ms. Greenhall
