Hello families,
This week we finished up our Norval Morrisseau inspired art. They turned out amazing! We created success criteria as a class to ensure our art had:
- realistic details
- bright colours
- no white spaces
- designs inside the animal using straight and curved lines
- neat colouring
- precise cutting of the silhouette
Our clocks from last week received some color.
We reviewed mathematical vocabulary related to addition, the Montessori stamp game, and began to solve word problems (mild, medium, or spicy). When solving word problems It is important that we first read the problem, underline the important words and information, show our solving/strategies , and finish with a sentence that includes the units.
Being the first week of December, students practiced their patterning and relations skills by filling out a calendar and answering questions about it. We also reviewed patterning attributes and the core of a pattern.
In science we began to learn about temperature, including how we measure it, how it is practical in daily life, and how a thermometer works. We set up a sketchbook page to record the temperature for next week.
In writing workshop we read the mentor text, Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge by Mem Fox.
As a class we discussed what is a memory and some important aspects of it such as Who, What, Where, Why, and How? Students moved through the writing workshop process more quickly this week and we published our work in a fun way!
We ended the week with an introduction to mapping.
Our classroom also got decorated with some Christmas cheer!
Have lovely weekend,
Miss. Greenhall

Hello families,
As you are aware, Lake Bonavista School has been given money to support literacy and numeracy learning in the grade 2 and 3 classes. With this opportunity, Ms. Brown will be teaching all of the grade 2 and 3 students’ physical education and health each morning. This time will predominantly be spent outside, so it is imperative that students are dressed for the weather as we move into the colder winter months.
Thank you for your support! We look forward to the impacts of this intervention on our school community!
Take care,
Miss. Greenhall
