Hello families, This week we completed the last Scared Teaching which is the Turtle, representing truth. Students tied together their learning by creating some meaningful art depicting one of the Sacred Teachings that they connect with the most.

Hello families, It was a busy week! We had the opportunity to explore a school wide learning provocation in our Learning Commons. So far there is a large aquarium with some eggs inside. Students were so excited to guess what is going to come from these strange looking eggs. We also looked at some photos from earlier this week, as they have already started to change! Students took part in an "I see, I think, I wonder" activity to practice their observation and research skills.

Hello  families , This week we jumped back into our school routines and spent some time sharing about our Winter break through a sharing circle and writing. We also reviewed "sky, grass, ground" letters and practiced our writing stamina. Some students practiced copying a paragraph, while others used a picture prompt to create their own.  In math we finished up the final step of the T-Shirt Problem. This included learning about the terms "addend", "sum", and "operation" as well as the math strategies doubles, and repeated addition. As we continue to learn mathematical vocabulary, it will be added to our "math trees" in our classroom. Students then completed multiple computations to find their sub totals, and then a final sum, representing their final answer in a sentence with a dollar unit.  We learned two new math games: Erase (with 10 sided dice) and Go Fish for Ten. Ask your child how to play these games and try them at home! Students...

Hello  families , This last week of school was full of joy and cheer! As a gift to students we created tree ornaments inspired by the book The Mitten  by Jan Brett.  In math students who were not done completed their T-Shirt Problem bar graphs and we spent the week playing math games! Some of the math games included Candy Cane Count-On and Snowman Bump. In Science we learned about matter and how it makes up everything in our world. We then looked at the different states of matter: solids, liquids, and gas. Depending on the state, we learned that the particles are spread apart or closer together. Students then took part in a scavenger hunt defining items based on their state of matter. Students also completed a sort to demonstrate their understanding of the three states of matter.  In Social Studies students finished up their Sacred Teaching pages about courage. We will learn about the remaining teachings in the new year. In writing we finished up our Favourite Food W...
