Hello families,

This is what we got up to this week:

We celebrated Earth Day and read lots of books about our beautiful planet, took part in scientific art, and wrote a letter to Earth. For our scientific art, we conducted an experiment using food colouring, baking soda and vinegar. Students hypothesized what would happen as a class. It was great to see their reactions as their Earth's fizzed up! Fun fact, CO2 is released during this chemical reaction and the states of mater change from liquid + solid to a gas.

Plant Observations Continued - They will be coming home next week!

In writing we continued decomposing fairytales to prepare for creating our own stories next week. We also explored character traits and how characters develop over time. Students began designing their own original characters, which has been very exciting for them.

In word work we learned about vowel teams with u and e through Words Their Way sorts and levelled decodable texts.

In mathematics we learned how to add and subtract on a 100s chart, jumping up and down for the tens place value, and sliding left and right for the ones place value.
