Hello families,
It has been a wonderful start to the school year! This week we focused on getting to know one another, reviewing classroom expectations, and settling into our daily routines. We also explored what makes our Montessori program unique and how our classrooms and learning experiences may look a little different from others. Thank you for helping your child be prepared by sending indoor shoes, a water bottle, and a placemat. Our Grade 2 students have already been shining as leaders in the classroom!
Here is what we got up to:
Material Exploration
We began creating beautiful Sun Rip Art. This art helps students practice their fine motor skills as well as create a beautiful piece for the front of their sketchbooks.
Sketching Practice

We met our Grade 5/6 buddies from Room 7 on Friday! Buddies introduced themselves and then enjoyed spending time together by playing a game, using materials, or reading a book.
Daily L.A. stations : read to self and read with a partner.
We explored the U.F.L.I. mats. UFLI is an excellent literacy program utilized by the CBE. Our grade 1/2 team will be using this resource again this year alongside several other literacy programs. Here is the parent resource hub if you are interested in learning more about the program: https://ufli.education.ufl.edu/resources/parent/
In mathematics we learned how to play greater than SNAP and addition SNAP. Ask your child how to play! (It is the same game as War, but just a different name)
