Hello families,

Our trip to the zoo on Monday was great! The weather was beautiful and the kids had a blast seeing all the animals and playing on the playgrounds. Thank you to the parents volunteers, we could not go on these trips without you!

Students completed a zoo scavenger hunt and scientific sketch in their field journals.

In mathematics this week we learned how to subtract using standard algorithm.  Students who were ready learned how to regroup using "borrowing" and applied this to a challenge math mystery! We also filled out a May calendar.

We finished our Arctic animal research posters and books, a fully student-led project. It was wonderful to see students express creativity and use exemplars, feedback, and self-reflection to guide their work. Those who felt inspired were invited to create an additional project on an animal of their choice as a responsible work choice.

In life systems we candled the goose eggs, and locked down the incubator. Hopefully we will see some goslings on Monday!
