November 7, 2024

Hello families,

This week we learned about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies. We also read the poem In Flanders Field and created art using multimedia, backed on the newspaper article where the poem was first printed in December 1915.

We also read the book What Does Peace Feel Like? and created a sketchbook page  about peace.

In math grade 1 students represented numbers using ten frames and tallies, grade 2 students worked on number patterns within a 1000s chart.

We also began exploring base tens and place value.

As we continue to learn about cycles, we read an Indigenous legend about day and night.

In literacy we reviewed the letters X, and Q. Ask your child what the animated literacy actions are for these!

.

We also started learning about adjectives and described Fall using our five senses.

During Daily L.A. students learned how to use the green word work material and the moveable alphabet during the "word work" station.

It was school shirt day on Wednesday. Thank you to school council for the generous support!
