June 21st, 2024

Hello Families,

This week we learned about fractions! We created math art to demonstrate our understanding.

In literacy we completed one last free write for the year and shared it with our peers.

We then created our own twisted fairytales inspired by the Three Little Pigs. Students began by planning a story map and then putting their story into a storyboard.

We looked at a current event where a skeleton of a juvenile T-Rex (discovered in 2022) is now on display at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Coincidentally, my brother-in -law found some fossils over the weekend and gifted some to the class to explore. They are most likely from the Ceratopsian family. How neat!

In science we learned about light energy and how shadows change throughout the day based on the sun's position in the sky.

Yesterday was the last day of Gardening Club! Thank you to all the students and parents who have made our garden so beautiful! We finished the last day weeding, pruning, and making bee baths.

On Tuesday and Thursday we had a visit from the kindergarten students. The grade 1s were excellent leaders and showed them what next year may look like. On Thursday the grade 2s visited the grade 3/4 classrooms to see what grade 3/4 is all about! We are hoping this relieved some nerves for students and will make next years transition a little easier!
Friday was National Indigenous Peoples Day. We had an assembly and did a whole school sit spot! Our class also took part in a sharing circle, sharing what makes us happy, and those who wanted to smudged.

We also enjoyed some Friday buddy time!

Please check your email for important information about the last week of school including a film, walking field trip, and a volunteer opportunity. If your child's last day of school is before June 27th, please let me know so I can send their things home prior!

Have  a great weekend,

Ms. Greenhall
