Hello families,

Our seeds have started to sprout! We are wondering what they will grow into and are recording our observations every few days. They sure need a lot of water!

In Science we continued to work on our "Create your Own Planet" projects and began a Writing Workshop about them.

Students were given sentence frames for their "just right" writing level and referred to their planet graphic organizer to fill them in. We will continue with the publishing stage into next week.

Continuing with Cosmic Education, these books we read discussed our interconnectedness of everything and how we are made out of the same thing as stars! The class was pleasantly shocked by this and we watched a scene from the movie Wish which illustrates this perfectly!

In mathematics students were challenged with creating their own fact families from number bonds, and practicing their fact fluency with Math Minutes.

As our class explores measurement, we learned some Indigenous ways to measure in non-standard units and gave it a try around the school!

We also learned about how humans in the past recorded their ideas using pictographs. Some local pictographs can be found at Grotto Canyon in the Canmore area! They are estimated to be 500-1200 years old!

Our last two sessions of Sound Creations were awesome! We learned some latin partner dancing, a hip hop routine, and practiced freestyling!

In our final week of art with Ms. Davies we assembled all of our art to create the final pieces. One for Saskatoon, Iqaluit, and Meteghan. Great work grade 1/2s!
