April 26th, 2024

Hello families,

We had a wonderful field trip to Fish Creek on Thursday! During our plant walk we learned how plants can be used for different things. Ask your child what "ethnobotany" means how some local plants can be used! Thank you to the parent volunteers who made this day such a memorable one!

In mathematics we learned the standard algorithm (stacking) within subtraction, some new math games as well as the Addition Snake Game with the Montessori beads.

In Science students continued with their planet research and art. We are almost done our solar system! They created shape poems around their art based on their research.

Monday April 22nd was Earth Day. We created acrostic poems about Earth and read some related books!

In Social studies we began zooming in on Saskatoon and set up a "I see, I think, I wonder" sketchbook page. Some of the wonders students have come up with are:
  • What does the name "Saskatchewan" mean?
  • When did it receive it name?
  • How do animals survive in mostly just grass?
  • How big is the province?
  • Where are all the trees and what types do they have?

We created art to represent the prairie landscape and sky with Ms. Davies!

We finished up gymnastics this week with mission impossible! The kids had a blast.

Have a great weekend,

Ms. Greenhall
