Hello families,

This week students completed their Vincent van Gogh inspired art. Our classroom now has a pop of beautiful Spring colors in it!

We started an "eggciting" inquiry and visited the chick eggs in Ms. Romanko's classroom. Students made predictions as well as recorded their scientific observations and wonders. We will continue to check in on the eggs a couple times a week to see their progress as they begin to hatch!

In other Science we have been learning about space as well as Cosmic Education from the Montessori curriculum.  Cosmic Education supports the holistic understanding of the interconnectedness between all things, including ourselves, in our universe. To gain perspective of what is beyond Earth, students started researching a planet of their choice using a variety of resources.

Ask your child about the planet they are researching!

In Social Studies we wrapped up our identity pages with the "my community", "my family", "my culture"  and "my hopes and dreams" puzzle pieces.

We are now learning about communities in Canada! Students began with colouring a map of Canada and identifying the provinces and territories.

In art with Ms. Davies we created animal sculptures using clay and paint. We are making animals that can be found in the prairie landscapes such as Saskatoon!

In mathematics we practiced representing subtraction with base 10s and learned how to represent it using a 100s chart.

In literacy we explored the vowel teams "ee/ea/ey", and  "oa/ow/oe". Students continue to complete the Words Their Way sorts and write sentences using words that follow the spelling patterns.

In gymnastics we started using more equipment including the climber. I am so pleased to see the control and coordination students are demonstrating while going through the stations. Next week is our last week of gymnastics!

Thursday was Poem in Your Pocket Day! We read some great and hilarious poems!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Ms. Greenhall
