Hello families,

This week in math we reviewed all the ways we have learned to represent addition. These include more complex ways such as expanded form, number lines, and standard algorithm (stacking). Students completed an addition assessment to show their understanding and growth from January! These will be shared with you at conferences.

Here are the Words Their Way sorts from this week!

In Science we added to our animal research using library books. Students practiced scientifically sketching their animal and completed a final copy with watercolour pencils.  They also wrote a  "Who Am I?" riddle for their animal based on their research.  Stay tuned to see your child's final work when they share it with you at conferences!

We concluded our novel study of My Father's Dragon! Ask you child for a summary of the book. We will be watching the film next week.

Here are some other books we read!

In the Spirit of St. Patricks Day we blueprinted and built leprechaun traps! Students are hoping to catch our school leprechaun "Lucky" as they will still be around our school next week.
