Hello families,

This week we finished our Turtle Island Medicine Wheels. They turned out great!

  



Students also created thankful pages using inserts from the botany cabinet to trace leaf shapes.




In literacy we reviewed the letters S (plural words), K, R and L. Ask your child what the literacy actions and sounds of these letters are!

 

We completed our "My Hedgehog" writing from last week. Depending on their just right level, students were provided with sentence frames or sentence starters to guide their writing. 

 



In math students demonstrated their understanding of skip counting within a 100s, 50s, or 20s chart. 



 

Here are some things we did during Daily L.A. and math groups.



Within the wellness curriculum we are learning about different sized problems, and ways to solve small and medium ones independently. Every morning we also check in with each other as a class and discuss the zones of regulation. 





In art students created a rough copy of their winter art cards. The good copies will be made into greeting cards this winter as a fundraiser for our school!



On Friday we went on a chilly walking field trip with our big buddies! We played a game and sketched.




Library Books

We are so excited to start taking library books out at LBS! Students are allowed to bring one library book home and will keep one at school for Daily L.A. time. We discussed as a class the expectations of taking care of our library books, storing them in a safe place at home, and returning them within 2 weeks. Thank you for supporting your child in this as these books come home today!


October Montessori Tenet 

Throughout September, we focused on the Montessori tenet of grace and courtesy at LBS.  In October, our tenet is community and belonging. Here are some simple ways to incorporate grace and courtesy beyond the school walls.
