Hello families,

This week we bounced back into our classroom routines and began learning more about each other to build our classroom community. We also began reviewing concepts and learning about some new ones!

Students used mirrors and referred to a photo of themselves to draw a self portrait.

In literacy we reviewed the letters A and M. For Daily L. A. we began practicing buddy reading and reading to self.

In math we explored patterns with different attributes and incorporated a pattern or two into our September calendars.

We also played addition and greater than math games with cards. Math games are a great way to help students practice their fact fluency in a fun way. Ask you child about the games they have learned so far!

On Friday we joined with Mrs. Green's class to read the book "The Medicine Wheel", and began to learn about the Four Scared Medicines. After discussing the purpose of smudging and how to do it, students were offered the opportunity to participate in a smudge circle guided by myself. This aligns with our CBE Indigenous Education Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework that will guide our learning throughout the year.

Here are some other books we read this week!

Check out some of the responsible work choices students made.
