June 8th, 2023

Hello families,

On Monday LBS had a visit from the HAWKS helicopter. What a cool experience for our school!

We enjoyed our snack outside very day this week. It is always a great way to appreciate the space and get some fresh air!

We also had a few guest readers read outside.

In Science students continued with their National Geographic animals books/posters (what a big project!). Some students began their front covers and reviewing with their peers.

In math we learned about parts of a set within fractions. Students experimented with  coloured tiles to create different fractions based on color.

Students who finished their Work Period tasks early started an enrichment fraction  project. The task is to create their own bakery, applying their mathematical understanding of fractions, repeated addition, and greater or less than.

In Social studies we completed the natural resources section of our Meteghan sketchbook page. Students then began their Meteghan art to represent their understanding of the coastal region in Canada.

We continued practicing our reader theatre and are very close to starting our performances! Some students may bring their scripts home to practice over the weekend.

Sports Day will be taking place on Friday, June 16th from 9:00am – 11:50am, the end of day dismissal time will stay the same (12:15pm). On this day, students will begin in the gymnasium for a pep rally and then travel with their class outside to participate in group activities and games. Parent Council has generously provided a small snack for all students to enjoy during their outdoor time. Please pack an additional snack for your child to eat prior to heading outside for the day.
Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Wear athletic clothing and shoes
  • Pack a water bottle and snack (we will have two snacks this day)
  •  Please apply sunscreen and bug spray before arriving to school
