June 29th, 2023

Hello families,

Well here we are, done the last week of school for the 2022/2023 school year! Congrats grade 1 and 2 students!

We spent some time this week sharing about all the things we did this year and the huge amount of growth everyone has made (even Ms. Greenhall!).  Students filled out an "All About Me" sketchbook page and coloured their "Last Day of Grade 1/2" photo page.

To help students brainstorm their favourite moments, we watched a  funny interview with some grade 1 students!

We also completed our final community page for Alberta.

Students sketch noted their "Summer Favourites".

On Wednesday our class went on a walking field trip  with Ms. Green's class to explore and measure nature.

Students enjoyed playing the fun board games that everyone brought in! They also had some responsible work choice time before we began preparing the classroom for the summer.

We prepared for new beginnings by reading a book about change. The biggest message our class took away from it is the importance of being your best self by being kind to others, and most importantly to yourself as we move through life.

On our last day we tidied up our classroom, said "see ya later" or "farewell" to our big buddies, and learned how to set up tents in the field. We spent most of the day outside enjoying our final day together as a class.

I sent home a Summer Bingo for your child if they are looking for some creative things to do over the summer!

Finally, we took part in a sharing circle to share our gratitude about the year we have had, read a book about endings and beginnings, and of course, had one last dance party!

Parents,

Words cannot describe how wonderful it has been teaching your child this year. Thank you for the thoughtful cards/gifts and all the heartfelt hugs and goodbyes I got this afternoon. Please don't be a stranger whether I see you in my class, or around LBS next year! For those who are moving on from LBS, thank you for a great year and I am wishing you all the best on your child's next chapter.  Have an amazing summer!

With gratitude,

Ms. Greenhall
