Hello families,

What a great last full week of school! We started the week by releasing the butterflies just outside of the school field. They were great to have in our class but we know they will enjoy their new homes in the community much better!

On Tuesday we honoured National Indigenous Peoples Day with a whole- school assembly and sit spot.

We then spent the afternoon setting up tents and appreciating the land through collaboration and exploration.

Thursday we had our sharing assembly. Great job everyone! It was so nice to share all our hard work with the school. You can find the link to the music video we created here:

In the classroom this week we continued to finish up our fraction pizzas, and insect art.

We also learned about story setting and students created their own setting, adding details using their 5 senses.

Using their plans, students then wrote a story that included their character and setting.  After drafting and revising, students tried out the voice-to-text feature on our iPads!

For our egg STEM challenge students worked on designing their prototype, building, and testing. We have some fake eggs to help with testing, reflecting, and adjusting our prototypes as needed.

A few students did their egg drop on Thursday. There were lots of successful contraptions and lots of fails! All were amazing! Students made sure to wash their hands very well if their egg did break. The remaining egg drops will take place on Monday.

We ended the week with Sports Day. Even though it was a rainy day the spirits and sportsmanship were high! We made it to 4 stations throughout the day with a break in between to dry off inside. The day ended with a healthy snack provided from parent council and goodbyes to some of our peers who are starting their summer vacation a few day early!

Next week students voted on taking part in a show and tell on Monday, and a talent show on Tuesday. The last day of school will also be Color day! Students can wear as many colours as possible to celebrate the last day of school.

For these events students can participate as much or as little as they like. It will be a fun last two days of school!

Have an excellent weekend,

Miss. Greenhall

Report Cards

Report cards will be available online at the end of next week. Please note that if your child's grades did not increase, that does not mean they have not shown improvement. If your child is receiving the same grade, it means they were able to keep up with the increase in demand and expectations that come with approaching the end of grade 2/3!
