Hello families,

This week we received our first nature kit from the Inglewood bird sanctuary. This one focused on the Nosehill park area. We went through a variety of thinking routines that allowed students hands-on time with the artifacts.

In math we completed the good copies of our 3D Wanted Shapes, demonstrating our understanding of their attributes and where we can find them in real-life.

We then began to learn about perimeter, including how to measure perimeter, as well and create shapes that have a set perimeter. Students will be applying their knowledge of 2D and 3D shapes, as well as measurement to their upcoming project: Geometrocity.

Students also finished up their research graphic organizers for their National Geographic books.  We then looked at some more exemplars, discussing the features of non-fiction texts and how to best organize our research.

Students then began to draft rough copies of their books in their writng journals, paying close attention to subtitles and their glossary words.

For Mother's Day we created floral woven cards to practice our fine motor skills as well as show our appreciation for all our wonderful moms! Thank you for all that you do.

We also took part in a STEM challenge, creating strong and creative bridges with a variety of materials.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Ms. Greenhall
