Hello families,
Have a wonderful Spring Break!
This week we delved into our rocks and minerals unit by taking part in a thinking routine called "Wonder Mapping". Students had some very thoughtful wonders for the rocks they chose!
We then began to learn about the three different types of rocks, organizing our ideas into a concept map format.
In math we created our very own math WODB (Which One Doesn't Belong). Students used their mathematical thinking to design and provide a reason for each quadrant and why it does not belong.
Along with our daily number sense practice, we also reviewed number lines and rounding. We will be moving into our shape and space unit after spring break.
We completed the first book of The Secrets of Droon series! At the end of the week students finished up their front covers and took part in a book review. They gave the book a 1-5 star rating and provided reasons for their rating.
For our weekend writing this week students created weekend riddles. They then took turns reading them out to the class to see if their peers could guess what they did.
In writing workshop we finished up our procedural writing unit and moved into poetry. As we read a variety of poems, we explored the different aspects of poetry: visual, auditory, cognitive, and emotional.
We then explored rhyming scheme through three different poems.

In art we started our good copy of our "Art Cards". More information about this fundraiser will come after Spring Break!
Lastly, we created some flower watercolour art so our classroom is spring-ready for our return !
