Hello families,
This week we continued to practice carrying place value and created some cool art to represent a number of our choice.
In writing we explored list making using bullet points and commas as well as started a to think about where we can get ideas from in our writing. Many ideas come from our memory, facts we know, and our imagination.
Within our novel study of Finders Keepers we examined a excerpt from a Pikani story and practiced identifying some key words that help contribute to the story. We then created some "Blackout Poetry" to represent these words in a powerful way.
We have been studying Norval Morrisseau, a Canadian Indigenous artist. As a class we discussed how his work has bright colours, no white spaces, curved and straight lines, and lots of detail. We watched a short biography and pulled out some important information about Morrisseau using the 4 "Ws" Who, When, Where, and What. Students then took an example of his work and practiced his style.
At the end of the week students began to practice sketching their "Simile Animal" in Morrissea's style.
